Managing Windows Environment – 3/17/2008

Tonight we covered Chapter 11, which dealt with securing Windows.  Specifically, we played with the Security Templates plug-in and used it in conjunction with AD Users & Computers and GPMC to secure differing flavors of servers, ranging from Web servers to file servers.  We then used Resultant Set of Policy (RSOP) to see the effects of placing a specific computer in a given OU.

Since Chapters 12 and 13 are basically over backups, which we’ve covered countless times, I presented a brief overview of both of those chapters, which finally places us back on schedule.  Next week, we will only have the checkpoint exam (chapters 7-13) to contend with, and I’ll be able to tell you what your grades are and if you have to show up for the final.
