Managing a Windows Environment – 1/14/2008

Tonight’s class dealt covered the first two chapters of the book, which covers an exam designed for people who earned their MCSAs on Windows 2000 Server and are now studying for the upgrade exam.  Admittingly, that doesn’t help any of you, but there is still a lot of good information to be had.

Our mission tonight was basically setting up Active Directory.

Welcome back!!

Today we dived back into the newquarter, and the new year, with an introduction to Windows XP and then a fun-filled day of Windows XP installations.  Remember the types of installations we can choose from: Attended, Unattended and Network and know the differences between the two.  It would also be a good idea to memorize the different switches around the winnt and winnt32 executible files.

We’ll do Chapters Three, Four and Five in two weeks (we’re off for MLK day next week), so make sure you’re caught up on your reading.  See you then!

Hi, and welcome to my blog!

This blog will allow you to keep up with what’s going on in class this quarter. I plan on making brief posts after each class which will summarize what we’ve done that day and list any assignments I may give. That way, if you’ve missed class or need to review, you can come here any time day or night and see what you’ve missed.

I’ve designed this blog to be a tool — an extension of me outside the class, if you will. On this blog, you will find Powerpoint slides (if applicable), links to stuff I think you should know, and some links to some stuff I just think is cool. I’d recommend adding this site to your Favorites and checking it often — it’s the ONLY venue I’ll ever assign extra credit (and it does pop up from time to time).

Be sure to check this page often! You’ll never know what kinds of good things will pop up here (extra credit has been known to rear it’s quite-attractive head here from time to time).
