Today we discussed network connectivity — both to the Internet and to your own network remotely. These topics were covered in chapters 8 & 9 — putting us past the finish line for the 297 class!! Next week, make sure you bring BOTH the 297 book (so that you can use it on the open-book test) AND the 292 book (for the actual class stuff).

Fun was had by all.

Today we covered Chapters 7-9, covering Network/Share permissions and dealing with applications. Labs seemed to go tougher than normal; thanks for sticking with them and not getting too stressed out ;) . Remember, as always, we have a test next week over these chapters — make sure you’re comfortable with effective permissions.

Fun was had by all.

Deal!

Hey, if you’re in the market for a USB drive (if you don’t already have one, I’d really recommend getting one, they’re great!), check out this deal: 2GB drive for 10 bucks! It’s only good until January 31!!! To put this in perspective, my drive is 1/8 the size (256 MB) and I paid like 60 bucks for it (and it was on sale)!

Note that it’s a rebate thing, so you’ll need more than 10 bucks upfront, and you’ll have to wait a few weeks to get it. Also, they’re counting on several customers to forget about the rebate, so if you take advantage of this, make sure you take advantage! :)

Our class was pretty much a carbon copy (at least in terms of material covered) of the night class: we did Chapters 7-9 and made some network cable. If we have time closer to the end of the semester, we’ll make more! I know that makes you just want to explode with joy.

Fun was had by all.

Sorry for taking so long in getting this posted, it just kind of escaped me. On this night in class we had a FULL night covering Chapters 7-9 and even were able to fit assembling some Cat5 cable to their RJ-45 connectors. Fun was had by all.

Test next week!! Don’t forget!! Don’t be late!! Don’t feed bears!!

Today we covered Chapters 4-6 in the XP Pro (70-270) book, ranging in topics from Device Manager to Customizing the Desktop/Interface to Printers. I feel it was a good day with lots of learning (if not a little lab frustration). Remember, we’ll have a test next week over these three chapters, and then we’ll cover Chapters 7-9. We’re moving right along!

Tonight, we kind of a had a mishmash class. We started off with Shamar at 4:00, and moved on to Brian at 5:30. Todd came at 6 (as instructed) and then Shamar left around 6:30. We then finished up around 7:30. Ack! :)

What we covered in all of that was Chapters 5 and 6 — Ethernet Old School and Ethernet New School.

Just so you guys know, we are starting at 4:00 next week, and from here on out!
